Gtroids is more than just a simple Asteroids clone.
Unlike to the original game, you can enhance the ships abilities with bonus items like multi-shot (up to 4) or shield. You are able to throw smartbombs (or get more of them), cure yourself, enhance the points factor, control the game speed (with bonus items), fight against boss enemies and much more. Furthermore, it has a global highscore list.

The game is free for uncommercial use.

This is definitly a very hard clone of the Asteroids game. It is best played under Java Web Start. It may lag or lose it's focus when played under the applet when an ad appears. Just don't shoot the items!
